Bug-fix for the N64 variant of the USB gamepad Interface. Should fix the problem a few people have had with jittering buttons.

Update to the N64 & PSX USB Interface page. Minor change to the PSX interface, and pre-programmed chips are now available.

Moved the Megatap Interface to its own page. I have added connection info for the memory card slots. Hopefully this will be supported by Lars Ole Dybdal's PSX Game Edit... I'll have to ask him.

...[much later]... the interface page update is complete. Schematics are up, as is a new cut of code. No progress on the pre-programmed chips unfortunately, but hopefully I'll have something for you all soon. I have also been looking into laying out a pcb for those of you with access to the facilities. Stay tuned.

Should be updating the N64 & PSX USB Interface later today, with some schematics (have to correct an error in one of them I spotted last night), and hopefully some good news for those of you wanting pre-programmed chips...

N64 and PSX USB interfaceusblogo.gif (2743 bytes)

The parallel port N64 interface is OK, so is the PSX one... but USB makes things so much nicer.

N64 Gamepads on a PCGraphic by 'dev'

Some time last year I analysed the N64 gamepad interface protocol. My plan was to make an interface so's I could use an N64 gamepad on my PC. The project didn't get very far, as I discovered the (IMHO superior) PSX dual-shock pad shortly afterwards.

Then came UltraHLE. I needed to hook my N64 pad up to my PC. So I drew up a schematic, built a circuit, and started playing with some C. It didn't take long to get the pad responding to my PC generated request sequence, but to my dismay I could not read the parallel port fast enough to get the data from the pad.

Then Earle (author of DpadPro) put me in touch with Stephan, who had designed an interface that used hardware to generate the request sequence, and read the data back, and was now looking to simplify the design... we hacked his original circuit to pieces, and ended up with the current circuit.

DpadPro now supports the interface, and coupled with UltraHLP, it works beautifully in UltraHLE. Why not give the circuit a try?

PSX Dual-Shock on a PC ?

I have been messing about at home for some time trying to get a Playstation (PSX) controller working on my PC, as I happen to think they are the dogs as far as game-playing ergonomics go.

Thanks to Earle F. Philhower's DirectPad Pro, I can now play Forsaken on my PSX dual-shock controller. Don't forget to mail Earle to thank him.

Happy New Year, BTW. ;o)

Finally got 'round to making this page look less crap. Writing HTML really is a pain in the arse.

Just to share with you some of the shit I've been through since I bought my PC last march. I'm running a Diamond Viper V330 AGP in my PC, which was an utter nightmare to install properly. You name the fuckup, it happened. To save you going through the same, I've written a quick and easy install guide. The guide should work for any graphics card, so long as you use the right drivers ;)

Oh, and when I bought my CPU (a PII300) I was actually supplied with a pirate processor - I believe it was a re-badged PII233 ! If you want to avoid this hassle (soon to be fixed with the new Intel CPUs I think), then here's how to check your CPU.

'Nuff said for the moment, I'll try & update this page a little more often, but don't hold your breath.
